Royal Parks Half Marathon

Lizzie Hulton-Harrop, Operations Executive at the Big Give, joined 19 other runners on Sunday 9th October 2016 to raise funds for the Christmas Challenge. Lizzie spoke to us about her experience:

“Training for this run has been all encompassing for the last 4 months but I have to say it was all worth it on the day. It was my first half marathon and although it was a tough physical challenge, it was an amazing experience and one that I’ll always remember. The atmosphere was fantastic; the crowd’s support was a huge motivator and I was delighted to cross the line at 1:52:54!”

Lizzie was joined by a team of other runners who all completed the half marathon with times ranging from 1.29 hours to 3 hours. Congratulations to the following runners who ran their first half marathon:

And to everyone else for taking part:

In total, the runners spent 2,304 minutes running and covered a total distance of 262 miles!

The Big Give is incredibly grateful to all the runners for their incredible hard work both running and fundraising for the Christmas Challenge.

The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign and raises money for a broad range of charity projects. It offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donation doubled on theBigGive.org.uk when the campaign goes live on 29th November 2016, #GivingTuesday.

The runners had the opportunity to raise matching funds for charities with projects in the following areas supported by the Reed Foundation: International, UK, Arts, Environment and Animals. An incredible £7,000 was raised, which will be used to double online donations to selected charities in the Christmas Challenge from 29th November #GivingTuesday – Friday 2nd December 2016.

Thank you again for your support!
