Research into making your donations go further

We are excited to have recently commissioned a piece of research on the donor experience of using the Big Give platform to discover and donate to charities. We are keen to ensure that we can deliver the best possible experience for donors and increase the impact of individual giving.

Who, what and why?

We are delighted to have the support of RBS and Charities Trust in commissioning the research. It is being independently undertaken by The Researchery, the research surgery for the voluntary sector.

As well as seeking to understand the overall donor experience, the research is particularly interested in exploring the power of the “double your donation” offer. Statistics from previous Christmas Challenges have shown that when “matching” is on offer, response rates and the average gift size increase among supporters. For example, the average donation made to a charity on the Big Give website is £73. However, when matching is available, it increases to £221. The purpose of the research is to enable the Big Give to make the best use of your donations and to ensure your charitable giving has the greatest possible reach.

We would like to thank all donors who have completed the survey sent out by The Researchery. Your responses make a vital contribution to our work. If you have any questions about the research, don’t hesitate to get in touch at info@thebiggive.org.uk.

Confidentiality

The survey is strictly confidential, with results analysed only in aggregate and anonymously by the independent researchers. Completed surveys are submitted directly to the research survey address so that your individual responses will not be seen by the Big Give, RBS or Charities Trust.
