The Big Give Christmas Challenge has raised over £6.4m in three days for 258 participating charities. The Big Give is still offering the chance for donors to double their donations to a selection of charities until Monday 14th December.

There was incredible demand from donors to have their donations doubled when the campaign launched at midday on Friday 4th December, with 1,192 donations processed raising over £2.5m in the first five minutes of the Christmas Challenge.

There is still the opportunity for donations to be doubled as some of the charities still have match funds remaining. Any donors wishing to have their donations doubled should visit theBigGive.org.uk and click on the link to ‘Charities still doubling’. Match funds will remain open until 5pm on Monday 14th December but donors should donate quickly to have the best chance of getting their donations doubled.

Match funding is provided by a range of philanthropic organisations, called ‘Champions’ who include The Reed Foundation, The Childhood Trust, Candis Magazine, and The Lake House Foundation amongst others. These Champions funds are joined with pledges from the charities’ own major donors to double online donations during the Christmas Challenge on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The Christmas Challenge demonstrates just how generous the UK public are”, said Alex Day, Director of the Big Give. “We’ve been astounded by the response from charities and their supporters and we’re incredibly proud to partner with such a passionate group of organisations and philanthropists who double these donations.  To raise such a phenomenal amount of money in such a short time is testament to the power of match funding. The incredible offer to double donations is still open for a select group of charities and we encourage donors to consider having their gifts to charity doubled this Christmas by visiting theBigGive.org.uk before Monday 14th December. ”
