Millions of people have fled their homes to escape conflict in Ukraine. Leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones. They need shelter, food and water. Donate to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and have it doubled on the Big Give whilst match funds last.

The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas.

In these times of crisis, people in life-and-death situations need our help, and our mission is to save, protect and rebuild lives through effective humanitarian response.

Pooling our resources to work as one, we are pivotal in co-ordinating the UK public’s response to overseas disasters. In collaboration with our Rapid Response Network of national media and corporate partners, we raise the alarm to the UK public and set up easy ways to donate.

Two weeks ago, the DEC launched its Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, as the 8-year conflict in Ukraine dramatically escalated. To date, over 3 million people have had to flee their homes, leaving with little but the clothes they were wearing and what they could carry.

In the two weeks since the appeal was launched, it was announced today, as the devastating conflict continues to force people to flee their homes and cross the border into neighbouring countries, the appeal has raised an incredible £200 million and The Big Give has helped to raise over £3m towards that total.

Saleh Saeed, Chief Executive of the DEC, has this message to give:

“I want to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian appeal, however big or small. It has been truly wonderful to see so many people demonstrate their support in their own way to help the people of Ukraine fleeing the conflict.

Today, at this very moment, DEC charities are working tirelessly to help meet people’s immediate needs, both inside Ukraine and on its borders.
Your donations are providing essentials like food, water, shelter, trauma and healthcare to people whose lives have been torn apart. The money raised is supporting the volunteers on the borders assisting families as they arrive with almost nothing, and the aid workers in Ukrainian cities helping those unable to flee.
This amazing amount of money means we can also respond over time and be flexible as the situation unfolds. The destruction of vital infrastructure is a painful demonstration of the lasting impact of this conflict. Families have lost everything. Livelihoods have disappeared overnight. Children have had their childhood innocence shattered. As well as providing urgent assistance now, your donations will continue to be used to help support those whose lives have been devastated by the conflict in the months and years to come.

And thank you for placing your trust in us, and our work. The future in Ukraine is uncertain, and we understand the huge task ahead. We pledge to spend this money responsibly and continue to be led by the most urgent needs of those affected by the conflict.

For nearly 60 years, in times of crisis, the DEC has brought the UK’s leading humanitarian charities together to help people in life-and-death situations. Your support has empowered us to work together to save, protect and rebuild lives through effective humanitarian response.

And we have no intention of stopping.
